What am I going to pay, and when, for my Managed Cloud Hosting server?

If you buy one of the 4 preconfigured tariffs, we will charge you at the time of purchase. Subsequent payments will be monthly, for the same amount, as long as you don’t change your tariff.

For the flexible tariffs, you pay nothing upfront, we will bill you at the start of the month for the resources you used during the previous month. The first bill will be prorated for the time active.

How can I pay for Managed Cloud Hosting?

By credit card for the first month, then, If you prefer, you can change to direct debit in your Client Area.

For Flexible Cloud Hosting, you only pay for the resources you use, charged by the minute. What's more, you can control what you use and predict the amount invested at any time. For example, if you have a server switched-off, you will only be billed for the disk space used. Never for the RAM or CPU. Unlike the preconfigured Cloud tariffs, in which you continue to get charged for RAM, CPU and Drive resources even if you turn them off.

Can I control the usage and billing?

Of course. In the Control Panel, you have access to up-to-date reports on your current usage and on previous months. This means you can always have a clear idea of what the next month’s bill will be.

Can I move from one Managed Cloud Hosting tariff to another?

Yes. Once you’ve contracted a particular tariff, if the number and complexity of projects needs it, you can request a change of tariff through our customer services.

Is there a fixed-term contract period?

No, you can cancel the service at any time and you will only be charged for what you have used.

For the preconfigured tariffs, since payment is monthly, if you decide to change to a higher tariff, we will save the remaining portion of the cost for you. If you should want to cancel the service before the month is over, you will lose that portion.

What is the difference between the preconfigured and flexible tariffs?

Although both services are technically the same, there are some differences in costs:

• The preconfigured Cloud tariffs are more than 40 % cheaper than the Flexible Cloud Hosting tariffs with the same characteristics.
• The preconfigured Cloud tariff rates are not as scalable as those for Flexible Cloud Hosting. If you need to, you can change to a higher preconfigured tariff or migrate your service to Flexible Cloud Hosting for the greatest flexibility.

What is a stack?

A stack is an organised set of software that allows us to make the most of the server infrastructure. The best known, and standard in the world of web servers, is known as LAMP (an acronym for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP). This is used by default, when provisioning our Managed Cloud Hosting servers, unless you choose a different combination from all the ones available, for example, the stack specific to WordPress servers.

What operating system does Managed Cloud Hosting use?

Currently, the OS version used is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. In the future, new options to support different stacks will be added.

How does the managed system work?

Managed Cloud Hosting allows you to get the best performance from your server, with the advantage that our experts will be responsible for installation, configuration, patching and keeping it running at its optimal performance. You only have to bring the code, manage your DNS and look after your applications, we will take care of the rest.

Do I have root access to my servers?

With Managed Cloud Hosting, all the resources are dedicated exclusively to you and you have total control over them through the console or the browser, whenever you want to configure and install your code or applications. Since the environment is managed by Arsys, you do not need root access to the servers and our experts are in charge of everything to do with system maintenance.

How flexible is Managed Cloud Hosting?

Managed Cloud Hosting is a product with no upfront costs or commitments, which allows you to resize the resources of your environment whenever your projects require it. For this you can request a change to a higher tariff or a flexible tariff that will allow you to hot-resize all hardware resources (memory, disk, and process) at any time, paying at the end of the month, per minute’s use of each of them.

What is the difference between Web Hosting and Managed Cloud Hosting?

Web Hosting offers shared and fixed resources with a non-customisable standard LAMP stack. Whereas Managed Cloud Hosting is a platform with flexible resources (CPU, RAM, storage) and offers more than 20 choices of stack. Further, Managed Cloud Hosting is billed per minute, can be turned off at any time and different web projects can easily be added to, or removed from, their platform.

What is the difference between Cloud Server and Managed Cloud Hosting?

Our Cloud Servers are 100% managed by our customers, while Managed Cloud Hosting is managed by our experts. This requires much less technical expertise and avoids possible additional software points of failure.

What is the difference between Dedicated Server and Managed Cloud Hosting?

Managed Cloud Hosting gives you exclusive, dedicated, resources, just like Dedicated Servers. However, the former is similar to a shared hosting plan in that Arsys is responsible for the installation and initial configuration and for looking after the system maintenance and security updates. We also take care of the replacement of the hardware when that’s necessary in Managed Cloud Hosting.
